Buttock Augmentation
Buttock Augmentation by MicroFat Grafting
(Also known as “Brazilian Butt Lift”)
Fat Grafting is the method most frequently chosen by Plaza Outpatient Surgery Center for Buttock Augmentation (enlargement) of the buttocks or making them more shapely. You must have enough “spare” fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, lower back, or thighs. This excess fat will be removed very gently through Liposculpture with a micro-cannula to protect the living fat cells. The fat particles are purified and then inserted into the layers of the buttocks through one or two 1/8” incisions, putting tiny droplets throughout the tissues so each fat cell will have a good blood supply.
Procedure
During the fat transfer procedure, the fat is drawn in a form of Liposculpture from the donor area such as the abdomen, back, flanks, or thighs where the fat is tightly packed. This then leads to a contoured body. Before the fat is injected, it will be processed to remove excess fluids. Afterward, using a needle with local anesthesia, the fat is then injected just under the skin beneath the targeted area in very small droplets and repeated until the desired effect has been accomplished.
Buttock Augmentation with fat injection is a more subtle process. It is like planting a seed and letting it grow over a period of time. This technique is used to maintain a higher survival rate of fat cells at the time they are transferred vs. injecting a lot of fat cells and having a lower survival rate. There are several advantages to our procedure, including:
A more natural appearance and feel.
No foreign object in your body
Lower chance of rejection
Smaller incisions, which means less scarring.
Shorter healing time (about 2 weeks before resuming normal activities)
Body sculpting of donor areas
Lower incidence of infection
Expectations
Just after the procedure, the buttocks will swell somewhat and then subside. Thus, most patients think all the transferred fat has gone away but actually, it was the swelling that went down. That’s why it requires three to six months before we can get a final resolution on how much fat actually remains and up to 1 year to see final results. It takes about 2 weeks before resuming light activities and up to 4 weeks for normal activities. You shouldn’t sit down for prolonged periods of time for at least 3 weeks.
