Liposculpture
Liposculpture (Body Sculpting)
Liposculpture is a surgical procedure whereby Liposuction is used to define a more pleasing body shape. It involves performing Liposuction on several parts and “paired areas” of the body to create an overall balanced and sculpted appearance. It can be performed on any part of the body including; tummy, thighs, arms and even parts of the face. Liposculpture removes stubborn fat deposits and goes the extra mile by shaping the remaining fat so that it is more in tune with the underlying muscles. Patients cannot gain an ideal sculptured shape by having liposuction in one area only. Therefore, Liposculpture is the only way to create a visually balanced body.
Liposculpture is not a form of weight loss. The results are purely cosmetic.
Liposculpture Techniques:
The Liposculpture technique at Plaza Outpatient Surgery Center is to blend and sculpt the various parts and areas of the body with a microcannula (smaller cannula), which suction out fewer amounts of fat in each pass. Using this technique allows more predictable, beautiful, and well-balanced lasting results.
Our goal is for you to remain comfortable and awake during your procedure, recover faster afterward, with minimal scarring, firmer, tighter skin, and smoother overall results.
Tumescent
Tumescent Liposculpture refers to a technique that uses large volumes of very dilute local anesthesia that is injected into the fat causing the targeted areas to become tumescent, or swollen and firm. Local anesthesia is widely regarded as the safest form of anesthesia. Because local anesthesia persists for many hours there is no need for narcotic pain medications after surgery.
The tumescent technique for Liposculpture is unquestionably the safest form of Liposuction, when done correctly (not excessively).
Modified Tumescent
Modified Tumescent Liposculpture refers to a combination of tumescent local anesthesia plus some form of systemic anesthesia (IV sedation). Because general anesthesia or heavy IV sedation can be dangerous, they must be administered by an anesthesiologist.
Benefits of Liposculpture:
Faster recovery
Skin tightening is an added benefit in most patients.
Better results since you are able to turn in different positions during your procedure.
No ugly scars
Advanced state-of-the-art microcannula technique
Minimal downtime
Safe local anesthesia
Risks of Liposculpture:
One of the big advantages that Liposculpture has to offer its patients is that it is a generally less invasive procedure than Liposuction. This means that it is also a much safer procedure for patients who choose it over Liposuction. Despite this, there are still some risks that should definitely be considered by anybody who is thinking about using this procedure:
Too much Liposculping is an excessive volume of aspirated fat, or an excessive number of areas treated. Excessive surgical trauma is dangerous and is an important cause for serious Liposculpture complications.
Unrelated surgical procedures on the same day as liposuction are unnecessary. Prolonged exposure to anesthesia is dangerous and is an important cause for serious Liposculpture complications.
Disfiguring skin irregularities and depressions are frequently the result of the surgeon's inattention to detail. For example, if a liposuction surgeon attempts to do too much on a single day, and becomes fatigued, the result may be an inattention to detail, and undesirable cosmetic results. A Liposculpture cannula is a stainless steel tube inserted through an incision in the skin that is employed to suction the fat. The size of the Liposuction cannula can influence the smoothness of the skin after Liposuction. The use of large cannulas tend to create irregularities more commonly than microcannulas (outside diameter less than 3 millimeters).
Recovery:
Some of the most common side effects of Liposculpture are swelling, bruising and a small amount of pain in the area of the body where the procedure was used. This shouldn’t be a cause of concern, as it usually takes only a couple days for the pain and swelling to subside.
Typically, normal activities may be resumed in 1-2 weeks. Strenuous activities should be avoided 2-4 weeks. Patients should refrain from smoking during this time, in order to avoid a lengthy recovery period and ensure proper healing.
